About the Speakers:

Dr. Jeanne L. Caligiuri is a board-certified internal medicine physician and board-certified lifestyle medicine physician who is speaking as a board member on behalf of Woman Affirming Woman.  Woman Affirming Women is a nonprofit agency that invites caregivers to gather free of charge once per month for dinner and to connect to a sisterhood of women who care for others.  

Dr Caligiuri has practiced outpatient internal medicine since 2003. She serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Throughout her career, Dr. Caligiuri has been passionate about helping patients and healthcare professionals achieve optimal health through evidence-based lifestyle medicine. She incorporates the six pillars of lifestyle medicine into her clinical practice and teaching: healthy nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and meaningful connection with others. She believes these foundational behaviors not only prevent, treat, and even reverse many chronic diseases, but also help individuals flourish personally and professionally.

As an educator, mentor, and wellness advocate, Dr. Caligiuri has delivered numerous presentations on health, wellness, resilience, and lifestyle medicine. Her work emphasizes the importance of fostering connection, purpose, and a supportive workplace culture to combat burnout and promote well-being among healthcare professionals.


Saquena Atkins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator based in Ohio with more than 25 years of experience in psychotherapy. She utilizes an integrative approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation to help individuals improve their overall quality of life.

Saquena earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from The University of Findlay (1998) and a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University (2001). She also completed a certificate program in Sex Therapy and Sexuality Education through The University of Michigan (2023). Her areas of expertise include Sickle Cell Disease, Caregiver Support, Psychotherapy and Sexuality Education for individuals across the lifespan and impacted by cancer.

At Ohio State Wexner Medical Center/The James Cancer Hospital, Saquena serves as Psychosocial Oncology Manager. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, inclusive care and supporting individuals and couples as they navigate changes in intimacy and sexual health following a cancer diagnosis.

In addition to her clinical leadership, Saquena has served as a community educator and adjunct instructor for the Ohio State University Social Work Department and Columbus State Community College. Her work emphasizes education, advocacy, and the creation of inclusive environments where conversations about sexuality, relationships, and quality of life can take place openly and respectfully. She has been recognized for her contributions to patient care with the Excellence in Patient Health Education Award.

Through her clinical practice, teaching, and community engagement, Saquena is committed to empowering adults through education, support, and advocacy, helping them achieve their fullest potential and enhance their overall well-being.


Dr. Elezabeth Young is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with more than 23 years of experience providing comprehensive women’s health care, medical education, and clinical leadership. She currently serves as the Women’s Health Director and practicing Obstetrician Gynecologist at Lower Lights Christian Health Center in Columbus, Ohio, where she has practiced since 2020.

As Women’s Health Director, Dr. Young leads the development and implementation of evidence-based gynecologic, antepartum, and postpartum care practices for primary care providers. She is actively involved in quality improvement initiatives focused on improving maternal and infant outcomes, including efforts addressing infant mortality and adolescent long-acting reversible contraception (LARC). She also represents Lower Lights Christian Health Center with Ohio Better Birth Outcomes and collaborates with community organizations and outside agencies to improve health outcomes for Black women.

Dr. Young is deeply committed to medical education and mentorship. She serves as a Clinical Preceptor for The Ohio State University Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife Program, where she supervises and educates students during their clinical rotations. Previously, she served as Assistant Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mt. Carmel Health System, where she supervised and mentored residents, developed curriculum, evaluated clinical competencies, and provided faculty leadership across labor and delivery and outpatient settings. She also served as the M3 Site Clerkship Director for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Obstetrics and Gynecology rotation.

Her dedication to teaching has been recognized with the John G. Boutselis Teaching Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017, as well as the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology National Faculty Award in 2013.
Dr. Young earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics, with honors in the Liberal Arts, from The Ohio State University in 1999 and received her Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2003. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, in 2007.

Throughout her career, Dr. Young has remained engaged in professional development, graduate medical education, quality improvement, and community health initiatives. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her professional interests include improving women’s health outcomes, advancing evidence-based obstetric and gynecologic care, medical education, health equity, and mentoring the next generation of women’s health professionals.
