FREE COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Community Testing

Do you need to be tested for the COVID-19 virus?  Testing is recommended for those who are symptomatic, or whom believe they have been exposed to someone with Covid-19, or those who live in congregate housing (such as a shelter). Testing is FREE and available for anyone wishing to be tested. You do not need a referral to be tested.  Symptoms may include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash on skin, discoloration of fingers or toes, chest pressure or pain, loss of speech or movement.  Important: if you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

Note: the appointment schedule is posted on Thursdays at 5:30pm for the following week.  If you see a message that no appointments are available, the schedule for that day or location is FULL.

By scheduling your test in either Columbus or Marysville you are reserving a specific time and test. Very limited same-day, drive up testing may be available with a small number of tickets given out at the start of the testing time to those who do not have an appointment.  You may be asked to return during an assigned window of time later in the day.  We strongly encourage you to sign up for an appointment time.  Appointment registration will open on Friday for the following week. Testing is offered on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in Marysville and Tuesday and Friday in Franklinton.

Test Results – How will I receive my test results?  Your results will be available within 2-7 days via the electronic portal where your results are being processed (volume of tests right now is extremely high so time varies widely).  You will need to create an account to be notified when your results are available to view.

Why is testing important? –

As we seek to follow guidance from the Center for Disease Control, Ohio Department of Health, and our local health departments, we have been eager to help expand testing options for our patients and our community. There is an increased focus on wider testing to more broadly identify local disease burden and limit community spread.

Who should be tested? –

Testing is recommended for those who are symptomatic, or whom believe they have been exposed to someone with Covid-19, or those who live in congregate housing (such as a shelter). ANYONE may be tested.

Where and When can I be tested? –

Drive-up/walk-up testing will take place Tuesdays from 2pm-4pm and Fridays 8:30 am-11:30 am in front of 777 W State Street in Franklinton, one block south of W. Broad Street on the Mount Carmel campus.

Testing by appointment will take place on Mondays from Noon-4pm, Wednesdays from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm and Thursdays from Noon-4pm at the (update – new location) Union County Fairgrounds at 845 N Main St in Marysville. There will be very limited drive-up testing available on a first-come basis.

What is the cost? –

If you have insurance, your insurance will cover the cost of the test with no copay. There is no cost for testing if you do not have insurance.

How is the test performed? –

You will remain in your car (or at the walk-up station). A nurse wearing personal protective equipment will use a nasal swab to collect your sample. The sample will be sent to the lab for testing. Results will not be available on site. You will be provided with directions on how to register with the lab processing your results to receive results via their online portal when ready. In addition, Lower Lights will call patients with a positive test result.

What do I need to bring with me in order to have a test performed? –

Please bring your insurance card (if you have insurance) and a photo id.

What if I don’t have a car? –

Our testing location is outside under the drive through drop off at 777 W State Street. We will also be set up to accommodate walk-up testing.
