Our Story

About Lower Lights Christian Health Center

Lower Lights Christian Health Center (LLCHC) is a faith-based, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit community health center that exists to minister the love of Christ as a full service medical home, focused on quality whole person wellness.

A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), LLCHC’s vision is to transform the overall health of Central Ohio, serving one individual and family at a time. All services – medical, vision, dental, counseling and nutrition care – are available to all who need it regardless of the ability to pay. Because we believe that we are made up of three parts – body, mind and soul – we also offer spiritual care for those who desire it.

LLCHC opened in 2002 in response to a need for access to affordable health care in Franklinton, and out of God’s calling given as a teenager to Dr. Dana Vallangeon. Driven by our core values, LLCHC continues to meet the ever-growing needs of underserved communities. Today, the practice maintains seven locations, employs 130 medical professionals and staff, and cares for 15,000 patients across Central Ohio each year.

Our Commitment to the Community

Committment to CommunityAs the heart of the community, LLCHC will operate a full-service nonprofit grocery store –Jubilee Market and Café – scheduled to open in the fall. The market and cafe will offer Franklinton families healthy and affordable fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, breads, ready-made meals and other grocery items sourced from local vendors and national distributors.

All persons, regardless of their income, will be able to purchase food on a daily basis. Those with an income of less than 200% of poverty guidelines will be charged a sliding fee for their purchases. SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) will be accepted. With a commitment to public health, tobacco and alcohol products will not be sold.

The Jubilee Market and Café will provide education on proper nutrition for its patrons and job training for employees, as well as a social destination for the community.

The mission of LLCHC is to minister the love of Christ as a model full service medical home, focused on whole person wellness, available to all in Central Ohio who need it, regardless of the ability to pay.
